Turns out the healing worked. 🌈 After almost three decades of feeling unsafe in my body, I’ve found home within myself again. The scared little girl in me learned all kinds of creative ways to protect her heart from the pain of the world. She learned to perform. To achieve. To anticipate. To control. To stay strong. To disconnect from parts of herself when feeling became too much. But what she didn’t know was that the walls we build to protect ourselves from pain can eventually become the same walls that keep us from fully experiencing love, intimacy, pleasure, play and joy. Today, that little girl isn’t so scared anymore. She’s a lot more open. A lot more trusting. A lot more playful. A lot more free. And honestly, one of the greatest measures of my healing isn’t how well I can talk about my trauma. It’s how much life I can feel now. I can be silly. I can dance. I can receive love. I can let people get close. I can rest without feeling like I should be doing something. I can experience joy without immediately bracing for something bad to happen. I can take up space, express myself, set boundaries, soften, play and actually be here for my life. I wouldn’t be where I am without the somatic trauma-resolution and inner-child work I’ve dedicated myself to over the last 7+ years. Learning to work with my body instead of constantly trying to think my way out of what I was feeling changed everything. I learned how to meet the protective parts of me with compassion instead of shame. How to feel emotions without drowning in them. How to recognize when an old survival pattern was running the show. How to create safety internally instead of endlessly searching for it externally. And how to slowly take off the armor that once protected me but eventually became too heavy to keep wearing. Because healing, to me, was never supposed to make me better at healing. It was supposed to give me my life back. And somewhere along the way, it did. If you’re ready to meet the parts of you that learned to survive, understand what your nervous system has been protecting you from, and begin creating enough internal safety for more of you to come back online DM me “HEAL” for info on 1:1 coaching #innerchild
