These kind of effects are done locally based on prior machine learning and isn’t generative AI (if you use the ones from BCC or Maxon at least, that’s the ones I know have effects built into their respective plugins). On the other hand people who use Generative AI websites to get their depth maps that’s a whole other thing and isn’t the same. Not all AI is inherently bad. Rotobrush for exampl is also a form of AI based on prior machine learning stored locally on your pc.

we all need to start doing some research to understand the differences between generative and analytical ai. ai has always been a part of after effects and so many other editing softwares. and as much as i hate “depth” style, depth map scanners are NOT powered by generative ais. it’s more conceptually similar to using something like rotobrush. if you can’t differentiate which ai is doing what, you can’t fully have a real opinion on it imo

pleasee learn the difference between GENERATIVE AI and whatever is used in the effect...depth is used to detect distance within images so that you can easily do things like masking or give an image some background blur. THE OTHER one is actively analyzing, reading, and copying other artist in an attempt to replicate and replace them

I hate the way it looks but calling it “ai powered” is a bit misleading (assuming you’re saying generative ai). There’s a difference between generative ai and machine learning… the way you find new medications without 100s of years is THROUGH MACHINE LEARNING. Not all ai is harmful but generative ai is!! 😭
