@thehauntedlinepod: Newfoundland fairies were never the kind with glitter and wings. 🌲 For generations, stories warned of the “little people” who could lead travellers astray, confuse berry pickers, and lure people deeper into the woods with strange sounds and music. And people had ways of protecting themselves. A piece of bread in your pocket. Something red. Silver. Even turning your clothing inside out if you believed you’d become “fairy-led.” At Fairy Knap in Flatrock, folklore even tells of music and laughter heard coming from the grassy hills — believed to be the fairies dancing. Whether you believe the old stories or not, there’s something beautifully unsettling about a tradition that essentially warned: Respect the land. Don’t wander where you shouldn’t. And maybe… keep a piece of bread in your pocket. 🍞🌲 Would you have followed the music? #NewfoundlandFolklore #FairyLore #Newfoundland #CanadianFolklore #DarkFolklore

My mom said I was taken and swapped by the fairies as a kid. Pretty sure that just meant I’m autistic.🫠

happened to me once im pretty sure.
i remember climbin up the barren hill on a hot day, i wasnt paying attention and the next time i paid attention the trees were a more dark and rich brown, much taller and thicker reaching the sky, the bushes and shrubs all went to my shoulders, there was a muddy path that you wouldnt get stuck on like you would normal mud. light fog in the trees, the spiders were the size of my palm. at the end of it i made it to a opening and the trees were normal again, it was a huge circle of trees and in the center light green grass that was maintained and short in that circle.
ive been trying to find that path again so many times, when i look from the bottom of the hill the area looks like only rocks, ans when I go up there its just as barren.
was an interesting expierience to say the least

I’m from Labrador and I DEFINITELY grew up with stories of ferries. That they could lead you astray or scratch your feet in your sleep

Fairies are neither good nor evil- they simply are. They’re like animals in a way; your experience interacting with one depends entirely on the way you do it, the fairy’s mood, and the kind of fairy itself. I’ve always wondered if the distortion of the world when you come into contact with a fairy is because of the fairy or because you’re getting closer to the world the fairy lives in. Sorry, I’m a chronic fairy defender, I just had to share😂
