I feel like this can be interpreted both in a good way (how all parents want their children to be better than they are) or a more negative way (he hurt me so I’ll resist ever becoming like him). And I find that duality and mass relativity to be oddly comforting

For me to understand that I have a dad in this world and he knows who I am. The fact that he wants nothing to do with me has never met me has never reached out first.

Became the man I am today to protect my siblings and mom from him never forget the day I watched him become scared of me after being scared of him for years. Core memory of where rage began for me. Tears running down my face with a smile saying “please hit me again it will be the last thing you ever do.” He took a step back and I took a step forward. Never tried me again after that day
