never judge an author by 1 of their most famous books, always research their other content. he writes dark content. Congo was extremely graphic in how people were murked by chimps and i read it when i was 15. Jurassic Park books were tame compared to is other works.

Ifk I'm torn on stuff like this. clearly yea no one wants to read certain topics and some topics are so taboo they shouldn't be written about but, there's also 60 different genres of horror and some are really meant to disturb. I personally don't read this content myself and so far I have not come across it in any book but if I came across it. I'd remember it's a different time that book existed it. horror is meant to disturb.

I’ve only ever done this to one book. I’ve blocked its name and most of its contents from memory. I found it on my shelf and started reading it. It felt familiar, which means I had read it but it’s been forever since, so I got comfy and spent the day reading it. The feeling of dread as I got closer and closer to the end made me nauseous. I’ve wiped the book from memory again, because the ending was so horrendous. I was filled with pure rage at being “tricked” into rereading it, so I destroyed it. I’d normally donate, but it was so bad I didn’t wish the monstrosity upon anyone else.

that is a valid thing to be very disgusted about but there's one good lining to your story. you bought it at a thrift store which means you didn't pay full price for it. that's the only good thing I heard about this whole situation is you didn't have to spend that much money on a book that you now have to throw away.

There was this vampire book series I read when I was WAY too young *Stephen-King-by-7years-kind-of-kid. King is NOT the author of this book!* It was a typical vampire book, lots of violence, drama, normal/ typical romance scenes AND THEN.... yeah... one page destroyed my soul. Main evil female vampire had turned a young boy and well.... she let him... yeah. I can't even begin to retell that shit 🤢🤢🤢. I can't remember the author's name to save my life. LITERALLY burned that, and every other book I had by them.

I couldn't dig this author, but Micheal Connelly was a brilliant author. Reading his books was like a movie playing in my head. Read all his Bosch novels

I get it. You didn't like the subject matter in the book and that made it a DNF for you. But did you have to destroy it like that? Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean someone else can't. Sell it or donate it, don't destroy it.
