Originally from the US, but living in Japan since 1997: What is the motivation, when you know the weather is dangerous, to drive anywhere, to go out at all. It's not like it was a surprise hurricane. You knew it was coming. Me, I would be drunk at home, stuffed with fresh food that would spoil if the power went out, just assuming it would. I'm not shocked that during the storm the grocery store isn't open. I'm at home with everything I need for three days to two weeks, gas tank is full, plenty of beer and water, instant noodles, all my stuff fully charged and continually charging until it's over. Seriously, explain it to me.
