Repped 315 x 6 on squat after doing 3 sets at 315 for 4 for most leg days, is that a sign to increase instantly? Or do I wait another leg day and or a few more sets to see if it was a fluke??

So do we up the weight when we get 9 reps on ALL of our sets for a given exercise or just the first set? Nobody ever mentions that

yamotha :
When u mean the 9 reps u means the 9 reps is easy to get not stressing to get the 9 reps every session with a RPE of 9-10

For example, in the bench press, when I reach 12 reps, I add 5 kg and do 6 reps, rep range 6-12 reps. Is this normal?

okay question, might be a dumb one but, when i reach 9 reps and i increase the weight, what if im only able to do like 3-4 reps with the higher weight? do i go back to my previous weight that i used to do or do i continue with the new weight until im able to do 9? i just wanna know if its a must that i have to get 5 reps with the new weight

If you have the Hevy app (just the one I happen to use) they have a feature where you can enter in your RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) and when you apply it to lifting, RPE tells you how many more reps you could have done before failing:
For example: RIR (Reps in Reserve)
RPE 10 = 0 RIR → Failure (no reps left)
RPE 9 = 1 RIR → Could have done 1 more rep
RPE 8 = 2 RIR → Could have done 2 more reps
RPE 7 = 3 RIR → Could have done 3 more reps
If you see that you are hitting RPE 9/9.5 on sets of 8 reps, you may not be ready to progress up in weight by 5lbs or 10lbs just yet. So the next session you do that workout, if you hit an RPE of 8/8.5, then you are probably confident enough to up your working set weight.

If my rep range is 8–12, should I increase the weight when I reach 12 reps on the first set, or only when I can reach 12 reps on all my sets?

I feel like my form and everything is good and I keep hitting different reps on certain workouts and stuck on others even though I’m trying to keep form and everything consistent

Jacob what do you do when you want to increase the weight but you literally can’t. Like I can curl 20s but 25s feel extremely heavy and I can’t do more than one. My gym has no inbetween weight, so how do I go up?

Little bit curious about the 5-9 range. Surely, if you get 5 reps on set 1 you will only get like 3 on set 2, maybe only 1 on the last. Is that really optimal, or do you lower it for the last set then to get a bit a bit more out of it?
