Sometimes you gotta pick one that’s least bad. Hormonal IUD gave me SI and copper IUD gave me anemia. I chose the anemia

Copper IUD also has the risk of reoccurring yeast infections and Bacterial Vaginosis it destroyed my ph balance until I had it removed

unfortunately I don't think a birth control that is side effect free for everyone is possible. there are probably one that works for your body specifically tho!

I love my Copper IUDs (have had 3!) because they are hormone free! Side effects (heavier periods and cramps) haven't been too bad, and the hormones I naturally have give me a super regular cycle, plus Paraguard makes TTC immediate upon removal, and has no chance of messing with breastfeeding!

Instant repost. I’m so tired of the anti-birth control scare tactics. Hormone free options: condoms (male & female), copper IUD, cycle tracking/NFP, spermicide. Am I missing any?

i have the copper iud because i didn’t want a hormonal birth control. the cramps are definitely worse and my periods are heavier but it was definitely the best option for me. the first few months after getting it SUCKED though

I can’t take hormonal birth control, so I tried Skyla and it was so unbelievably uncomfortable and I bled for 8 months until I got it out. I think it’s bc I have a tilted uterus.

I mean, side effect free would be cool, but it’s not really realistic. Something that doesn’t change my hormones is a good middle ground.

I’ve been on the pill a couple times and didn’t like it so I went with copper iud and while I was aware of the risks I wasn’t aware how intense it could be. I spot before and after my period on top of spotting during ovulation. Along with cramps for all of the above. I’m also bleeding for about half the month since my periods are 7-9 days now instead of my 5 from the past. I’ve had it a year and unsure about sticking through it or removing it.

are side effects the same for everyone on specific forms of BC or are they different for everyone? I'm looking for a BC that wouldn't affect my libido at all, is there a birth control that guarantees that or should i try different ones because side effects i might experience are not guaranteed?

I’m a year in with my Mirena and I’m thinking of switching to the copper IUD. This past month I spotted for the entire month and don’t really know when my last period was honestly. While I like it I have noticed some changes I have definitely been more depressed along with headches and not to mention my mood swings are crazy! I’m dreading the copper one but I’d rather have a period.

for me, mirena made me so depressed and angry. my mother has had no issues with her mirena and it helped with her terrible periods.

I think we need to educate the public about medical procedures more thoroughly. Even ibuprofen has a chance of having side effects.

is it okay to take skyla with spironolactone if i want the least negative side effects? i’m scared of IUDs but other BC pills alone have given me terrible mood swings and acne
