At our county fair, one of the steers wouldn’t drink. They figured out he was raised in well water and wouldn’t drink the city water. They ran home, filled up buckets, brought them back and the steer slurped it down. I don’t know that I would have figured that out, but thankfully they did.

alot of not being able to move it has to deal with not interfering with the school year starting and other county fairs/ Ozark empire fair also to get the ag teachers to help with the animals so there not under staffed or atleast thats how it used to be when my dad helped work it as a ffa teacher back some years ago

You can’t have butt fans? Dang I didn’t know that. The sheep barn was 110* @the wether show. I know it isn’t the same but, we lost some broilers to the heat. Don’t make fun, I know no where near the $$$$ loss. Just saying.

Indiana already banned butt fans and ports coolers. Every barn is air conditioned except the cattle barn. Which is like an oven inside. And now they are banning freezers refrigerators and sump pumps so no ice water rinsing. These fair boards need to get in check and some common sense.

I agree, it was 115° heat index Thursday when I talked to you. Sadly the young lady that lost her calf was one of my sisters students. Definitely a very disappointing deal

They need to move the fair or actually have barns that are cooled. We are spoiled in Ky, our state fair is at the same place as the farm machinery show is and is completely cooled.

We didn't compete in 6 shows so far because of the heat. Wasn't going to risk the horse over a buckle and some cash

Our county vet is on duty for all 6 days of our county fair. And between the 6 of them they are busy. They ain’t afraid to shut anything down or make sure that the animals have what they need.

Amen. Tried to kick pigs out with 107 degrees. They did finally change it that day. And seriously, we spend $3-5,000 on the state fair every year.
