The Astronomy Tower was bathed in pale moonlight. The stone beneath their feet was cold, but Hermione barely noticed — Draco was standing far too close. He kissed her first. Careful at first, as if giving her a chance to pull away. She didn’t. The kiss deepened, quiet and aching, until the world seemed to fall away — the war, the Houses, everything left far below the tower. When he pulled back, his forehead rested against hers. “I’ve thought about this longer than I should have,” he said softly. “About us.” Hermione swallowed. She had known this moment would come. “Draco…” She looked up at the stars instead of at him. “We can’t do this. We can’t be together. There’s too much between us. The war, the sides we’re on, what everyone expects…” Her voice trembled. “We just can’t.” He went still. For a few seconds, it was as if he hadn’t understood the words at all. Then he turned sharply away and took a step toward the stone wall. His fist hit it with a dull, muted thud. “Damn it,” he breathed through clenched teeth. Without another word, Draco turned and walked toward the stairs. Fast. Almost running. “Draco!” Hermione called, already moving. She caught up to him at the stairwell and wrapped her arms around him from behind, pressing her forehead to his shoulder. “I didn’t say I didn’t want you,” she whispered. “I said I was afraid.” He froze. Slowly, his shoulders dropped, the tension draining out of him. He covered her hands with his own, still not turning around. “I’m afraid too,” he said quietly. “But letting you go… that’s worse.” She held him tighter, and in that moment it was clear: even if they didn’t know what came next, there was no going back. #dramiona #malfoy #tomfelton #emmawatson #granger
