Hey dad, have another look at the Britax One4Life manual. The lower anchor install has a 35 lb weight limit. It needs switched to a seatbelt + tether install to get to 65 lbs on the harness. ❤️

10/10. thank you. My oldest did not outgrow the harness height until he was NINE. And I kept him in it until then. He still wouldn’t be over the weight now at 10.5. My youngest just turned 4 and he’s still rear facing. We have the graco e2f and he’s 36 lbs so there’s no reason to turn him forward

My 3 year old is still rear facing!! She’s only 34lbs and 35.5in. No plans to forward face until she maxes out at 40lbs or 40in. Good on you!!!

I love to see safe car seat choices. Hell yes. I didn’t know about extending rear facing with my first and we turned them at 2. When I knew better I DID BETTER. My second rear faced til almost 4. He had no complaints. My first was in high back booster five point harness til I think 8? And then the high back booster til 10.5. My second was in the high back five point til… 9? And still at 10.5 in high back booster. Not tall enough to safely pass all the check points to sit without a booster. Safety is first. Bravo 👏🏼 mom and dad 👏🏼

I could never imagine degrading a parent for choosing to keep their children safe for as long as they can. My 6 year old is 49 inches tall though he’s tall I have him in the same seat as your 7 year old because he only weighs 52 pounds

Hey guys, I’m not sure if this helps but we just “ downgraded.” We ended up getting a 2005 Yukon XL. Because it has bench seats. It allows for six spots. Since it’s a wider vehicle and those older years give a little more space, we can do three across in both the front and the back. May God bless you and these babies.

CPSTI here! I am so glad you are maxing out the limits for all your babies!!! There are some errors that need to fixed. First, On the Britax O4L seat. You need to fix the vehicle seat recline. The vehicle seat needs to be in the most upright position for a car seat installation on it. This is how car seats are crash tested. Unless the vehicle manufacture tells you to recline the vehicle seat you can’t recline it. Next, You need to switch from lower anchor installation to vehicle seats belt installation (not booster mode). Britax states on page 34 of the manual it states not to install the car seat with lower anchor hooks for a child weigh 35lbs or more and you absolutely need to be top tethering ALL forward facing seats. Please add the top tether to the Britax. The head insert on the Britax needs to be removed as it is only allowed for rear facing mode (see page 19 of the owners manual). All your Graco seats MUST have the cupholders as they are required. This is stated in all the owners manuals as part of the setting up the seat. Please remember vehicle lower anchor have a max weight limit of 65lbs. This is the car seat weight AND child weight combined. All car seats manufacturers have done the math for caregivers and will tell you to stop using lower anchors at a certain weight limit. If you need to add a 6th seat there are slimmer seat options to make this work in your 3rd row. That will allow you to keep your current vehicle.

I think you’re missing the point. The seats you have do not work in this vehicle. You have some over the limit for latch, some missing necessary parts and many are not supposed to be touching each other. The safety of a car seat depends on correct install. You may not be able to find seats that can work in this car was the point that people were making. It is also not advised to have children climbing on/over seats to get in as it can loosen the install.

My 5 year old nephew was still in a five point harness (because he fit within the guidelines for his car seat) and when we were hit by a driver going 100mph+ and subsequently thrown into a ditch and rolled over, he walked away with only two small marks on his chest.
