A cop did this to me when I was 16. I was working for my family’s dealership and had a dealer plate on my car. The cop asked me if “daddy paid me under the table” and then said it was misuse of a dealer plate. I was an actual employee, which we proved so it wasn’t misuse of a dealer plate. He impounded the car anyways and destroyed the dealer plate. He had to formally apologize to me and was on desk duty after that.
