How on earth do you expect that SPD to discharge surge through that 2.5mm abi 1.5mm cable? SPD earth cable cable should be a minimum of 6mm full gage and when the distance is far, you use 16mm, not even 10mm.

The SPD is not designed to operate like this. Check the breaker properly because the overheating is most likely coming from the breaker or its connection. An overloaded or poorly connected breaker can generate excessive heat, which may eventually affect the SPD. So the main problem should be investigated at the breaker and its wiring, not assumed to be normal SPD operation.

same thing happened to one of my customers, they had someone fix their Nepa light and during the process the AC side SPD got burnt

This isn't a proper protection, the DC breaker should trip and not burn to this stage. The DC breaker is over sized. Recalculate your PV Amperage for the correct DC breaker to use.
