@ericalzablon: When an engine takes a long time to start when cold, it is not advisable to immediately blame the ECT sensor. First, basic conditions that produce the same symptom must be ruled out: low fuel pressure during startup, residual pressure loss, low-voltage battery, insufficient RPM, ignition failures, injectors with leaks or unstable CKP/CMP signals. If these checks are correct and the problem appears mainly after several hours with the engine cold, then it makes sense to analyze the ECT sensor information. The ECT informs the ECU of the coolant temperature, and that data directly modifies the startup strategy. In the cold, the ECU needs to increase the injection time and adjust the ignition to facilitate the initial combustion. If the ECT reports, for example, that the engine is at 60 °C when it is actually at 20 °C, the ECU interprets that the engine is already hot and applies less enrichment than necessary; therefore, it may need several seconds of RPM before starting. A very useful test is to observe the ECT with a scanner before the first startup of the day: its reading should be close to the ambient temperature and usually also close to the IAT reading.#fyp #viral #tiktok
