On a day dedicated to slowing down, the Oregon Zoo provided the perfect backdrop for a long-overdue reunion and a memory etched deep into my mind. Joined by Zion, whose boundless energy kept us on our toes, and my dear friend @Tonya C. Saafir, Esq. lovingly dubbed “the helicopter mama” 🤣 for her watchful, fiercely caring eye—a simple zoo trip turned into an experience that felt like home. Having her visit made the familiar feel brand new. From watching Zion’s eyes light up at Elephant Lands, the Rino, the orangutan, the turtle, the birds, now something caught my attention there was this old blind eagle that was rescued and now lives in the Oregon Zoo, where she enjoys the company of another eagle and other animals. Walking the misty, tree-canopied trails surrounded by damp earth and ancient evergreens, every single step felt intentional, grounding, and full of joy.
