Honestly, I am not the type of person who likes front hugs. To me, it feels awkward, too tight, and for some reason, it always makes me nervous. If I had to choose, I prefer backhugs a thousand times more. At least with a backhug, I feel safe and warm without having to wonder where to put my hands. I always held onto that theory. Until one morning, that theory fell apart just because of two steps of stairs. The bell for the end of the morning assembly had just rang. The lines of students in the field started to break up, leaving the loud sound of footsteps and typical morning chats. I walked ahead to my class, avoiding the crowd. When I arrived at the classroom terrace, I immediately took off my shoes—my usual routine whenever the class had just been cleaned. The terrace wasn't very high, only separated by two small steps from the field's paving blocks. While holding my shoes in my left hand, I stood relaxed on the first step. The morning breeze blew softly, feeling cool. Then, from the corner of my eye, I saw him. Jimin was walking from the assembly area with relaxed steps. His hair was a bit messy from the wind, but his smile... oh, his smile always managed to rival the bright morning sun. His eyes quickly found me, and he walked straight toward me. I stayed still in my spot, on the first step. Jimin stopped right in front of me, on the field's paving. This height difference made my position a little higher than his. Usually, we are almost at the same height, but right now, he had to look up slightly to look at me. His eyes curved sweetly, showing a gentleness that always makes me weak. I thought he would say hi or just ask me to go into the class together. But, without warning, Jimin stepped forward, opened his arms, and hugged me tightly from the front. My body stiffened for a split second. This was a front hug—the kind of touch I usually don't like. However, a strange magic suddenly happened. Because my position was one step higher, this hug felt... very different. It felt just right. Jimin wrapped both his arms around my waist comfortably, while his face rested gently right in the crook of my neck and shoulder. There was no awkward feeling, no suffocating feeling that I usually hate. Reflexively, without holding back, my arms went up to hug him back. My hands wrapped perfectly around his shoulders, while my fingers unconsciously stroked the back of his hair gently. It felt like two puzzle pieces finally finding their place. Warm. It was so warm that the loud noise of the kids in the field seemed to go quiet instantly, leaving only the sound of my own racing heartbeat.

It was so warm that the loud noise of the kids in the field seemed to go quiet instantly, leaving only the sound of my own racing heartbeat. "Tired from standing during the assembly?" Jimin whispered softly, his voice muffled in my uniform's shoulder. His breath tickled the skin of my neck. I smiled, burying my face in the top of his head, breathing in the scent of vanilla and the morning air coming from his hair. All the uncomfortable feelings I usually got from front hugs faded without a trace. "A little bit," I answered honestly, my voice softening too. "But not anymore." Jimin chuckled softly in my arms. He tightened his arms around my waist for a moment before looking up, staring at me with sparkling eyes from down there. "So tomorrow after the assembly, I have to hug you like this again, right?" My cheeks grew hot, but I quickly looked away, trying to keep my pride. "In your dreams. Do you think I'm a leaning post?" Jimin actually laughed even harder. He didn't let go of the hug; instead, he rested his head again. "Let it be. This leaning post has the perfect position, after all." I snorted softly, but secretly smiled too. Oh well. Let's just say my theory about front hugs is officially canceled today. As long as I stand one step higher, and the person is Jimin, it seems like I won't complain. #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #ae #winrina #jiminjeong #fypシ
