I feel like trying to force yourself into feeling well enough to do things, only delays you actually feeling well enough. It’s okay to waste time, we need to let ourselves sit on the floor and disassociate, if it means being better later.

I feel so dissatisfied with my life and constantly feel like I should be doing something to improve it but constantly exchausted and disappointed with myself when I can’t do enough to change it. I wish I could offer some advice.

I don't know if you will feel better, but I am high achieving AuDHDer and I feel the same. The only thing that recharges me is going out to nature and getting absolutely knackered or burning nights on special interests projects

I found your account a few days ago. I am obsessed with how you articulate my exact feelings in such an understandable and relatable way. I can’t even do that, so by watching your content makes me feel like I am less alone… i know it doesn’t help you, but thank you.

i get you. it sometimes help me to remind myself that 1. time is a made-up concept & was defined to measure distance, nothing else; 2. lives dont have to have a bigger meaning, all we are here to do is live the human experience which is vastly different for everyone. so, anything you do, can't do (yet) is ok. we just gotta find ways to be nice to ourselves and maybe see it more as a game. experience as much as we want + cut ourselves some slack

Time is never wasted, only spent. Your time, whatever you do with it is for you and only you. This is not to say that you should suck it up, life under capitalism and being disabled at the same time is rough, like really rough, I know how it is. What I want to get at is, own your time on the floor, take a pillow or blanket to that spot and rest, you deserve rest. Whatever the next step is is irrelevant, it will come but recovery is very important when life is this overwhelming. Your productivity doesn't decide your worth. Just rest and revocer and I'm sure you'll go on to do great stuff in life, I believe in you ❤️

I feel like we might be in the same position. I have hobbies that I love, except, I don't get any pleasure put of them anymore. Not because they no longer interest me, just because my brain sees no difference in a hobby and a chore, and whatever happy chemical is supposed to get released, doesn't. So hobbies are exhausting to start and I don't get the dopamine reward from them.

Same. Try small things it helps. It's my way of feeling that I've done something. Sometimes is literally just taking trash out.

Sounds wretched. You describe all the things people describe when they are depressed. I think depression is a hell of trap and if you’re neurodiverse there are a whole additional series of challenges and thus maintenance factors. I hope you find a way forward. What ever that is, it’s unlikely to be a wholly masked version of you. Perhaps a move from fitting in - to a life of better fit. Find your people. They may be few and far between - thus a goal therefore might be a small number of relationships with considerable tolerance for silence, directness, eccentricity, solitude and irregular contact. Ask: How much connection is enough for me, and what does satisfying connection actually look like for me? That can be enormously liberating. As much as you can - go with who you are and what you need. You’re not broken, you are wired in a particular way that needs certain things to feel ok (you are not alone here!). You are a good person. Hang on in there!😊

Relatable but one of the biggest things I'm trying to accept/realise is that guilting or shaming yourself does not work.. it can be better to allow yourself to just be and waste time, then you can come at doing things from a more relaxed, choice based perspective as they come up rather than feeling obliged or forced to do them

also noticed you’re vegan, which made me think of my own experience with diet. I’m pescatarian and for years I never really considered whether I was getting enough protein. When I went to Tunisia I suddenly had loads more energy — I was getting lots of sun but also eating considerably more protein. When I came back to the UK in January I became physically exhausted again, and a friend suggested deliberately increasing my protein. I did, and the difference for me was huge. Obviously being vegan doesn’t mean you’re deficient in anything, and what worked for me might have nothing to do with what you’re experiencing. It just made me wonder whether it might be worth looking at the ‘inputs’ as well as the demands on you — protein, calories, B12, iron, vitamin D, sleep, etc. I think of humans a bit like biological computers: if the machine keeps running out of energy, instead of blaming the machine for being lazy, I want to know whether it’s under-fuelled or where all the energy is leaking out.

You can change how you view it. Be happy about what you are able to to instead of berating yourself for not doing more. You wouldn't do that to a friend. You need to be friendly towards yourself.

I'm sorry you are feeling like this, it's a really difficult rut to get out of, especially with disabilities. My main push used to be to try and tidy the downstairs of my house just so my kids mum would spend time with them, otherwise she'd be stuck in her room. Now my motivation is to give the kids space to draw and paint. The only way I ever managed to get myself out of a rut is headphones on and a goal. However, it doesn't always work and when I try and it doesn't work I get even more frustrated. I'm with you, I wish there was a way to just not feel like this all the time

i relate. I feel like I'm always tired, irritable, and paralysed. Its like I want to do something productive but I dont know where to start and I dont have the energy anyway. I want to spend time with people but then they get on my nerves. The thought of leaving my room to do anything genuinely stresses me out, but staying in my room just makes me more depressed, more irritated and more tired.

i spent 8-10 years studying software engineering, I burned out, started to hate it, found job in IT after a gap year, developed more anxiety over it and my boss, quit, and now almost a year after, I still have no frickin idea what I am gonna do with my life and while pushing 30 years old, I am wondering why am I such a mess having zero clue what I want to do, to not feel like burnt out trash

That might sound stupid, but it is good that you feel this as something that's not fully right yet. I spent so many years distracting myself from the empty feeling, and when you suddenly wake up to see you wasted your life for five years.. that's not great. I don't know how much you can do about it, you talked about wanting more professional assistance in your life in another video. I don't know. I hope things get better for you. And if there's anything we as viewers of your account can do, I'm sure people are willing to support as well.

I think I have felt similar before. It’s like being under stimulated & craving something.. (a dopamine fix?).. yet not having the energy to do anything, feeling paralysed. Do you have adhd as well? That’s my diagnosis but I likely have both. In moments were I feel like I need SOMETHING, but no energy for a big something, I have a list of regulating things I like to do. One of them is tracing patterns in an art book I bought off amazon, it’s just one fine liner pen & you trace lines. That’s for me when even colour therapy feels too overwhelming 🤦‍♀️. Sometimes movement helps me too.. but what definitely does is putting my phone away. Social media makes me 10x worse, and I only realise it when phone is out of reach, the anxiety lessens. I am also medicated which is hit & miss, but I’m better with it overall. I also have a weighted blanket which helps the nervous system, lying vertical with that on me can calm me sometimes. Sounds like you are overthinking it all (again adhd?) and thinking of it all in one big chunk rather than day by day. U also could be burnt out.
