Don't worry, the French would say you can't speak French correctly regardless of how you sounded.

I want to learn how to speak French fluently, then have that surgery done so I can truly just refuse to speak it, instead of not know how

That’s not a weird thing for him to say. How was he supposed to know if you speak French or if you intended to start learning it? And even if you didn’t have any intention of learning it at the time, it’s good to have a heads up in case you decide you want to learn it

Fun story, my relative got this surgery and found out like 2 months later that it's bogus; it does not work. Now, when they puke, they can't stop it from going out their nose because their uvula is gone.

unrelated but removing the uvula actually doesn’t work and they no longer recommend that surgery, my dad has sleep apnea and had his uvula removed but has to wear a mask anyway

It's way funnier when you actually speak french and you were forced to learn it

what i find weird is why is french the singular example? The uvula is a major articulator in spoken languages, tons of languages use it. Arabic for example. (i know why only french was mentioned, this is a rhetorical question)
