@pfau_lena: Here are the tips for taking a train in China: 1. Booking & Documents Book 14 days early: Tickets open two weeks before departure and sell out fast (especially during peak season). Best apps: Use the official 12306 app (English version) or Trip.com (easiest interface). Passport is your ticket: China uses e-tickets linked directly to passport number so keep your physical passport ready at all times. 2. At the Station & Boarding Arrive 60 minutes early: Stations are massive like international airports and require security checks. Use the manual lane: Avoid the automated ID gates. Look for the staffed lane (Manual Channel) for passport checks. Strict boarding window: Boarding closes strictly 3 to 5 minutes before departure! 3. Onboard Experience Free hot water: boiling water dispenser available - bring your own thermos, tea, or instant noodles. Luggage: Put large suitcases in the racks at the end of the car (max. 25kg). Seat: Seat reservations are free, but make sure to book in advance to get one (otherwise you have to stand - not very pleasant - I can tell you 🙃) #travel #china #chineasetrains #tip #fyp
