@izabela.adhdpathfinder: If your child melts down even after you’ve given them plenty of warning, it doesn’t necessarily mean they weren’t listening or are deliberately refusing. For ADHD, autistic and other neurodivergent children, knowing a transition is coming and being able to make that transition are two different things. Stopping a preferred activity, shifting attention, managing frustration and moving into the next demand can require skills that are already stretched. Instead of asking, “Why won’t my child just listen?” try asking: “What is making this transition difficult for my child?” Because behaviour is the clue. We just need to decode what’s underneath it. 🧩 The Meltdown Decoder helps parents work out what may be behind everyday meltdowns, refusals and explosive behaviour — and what to try next. #NeurodivergentKids #ParentingTips #EmotionalRegulation #Transitions #parentsupport
