I think he did it because he committed “the sin of gluttony” that’s why he says he ate too much cake before he jumps. He was mentally ill. I’m not eliminating the possibility of Lestat having something to do with it but I think that’s more likely and makes more sense to me that he in his mind committed a sin and that was like his break or something
