@degournay: At Shanghai’s Amanyangyun, we are delighted to offer guests an intimate glimpse into our porcelain atelier, recreated within a Gan-style ancestral building amid the hotel’s storied grounds. The installation pays homage to Jingdezhen, home to our studio, where our team both honours and reinterprets the city’s two millennia of porcelain tradition through a contemporary lens. An array of our handcrafted porcelain is presented throughout the salon, encompassing exquisite vases, dinner services and decorative objects. Behind, a folding screen bearing our hand-painted ‘Views of Jingdezhen’ design gleams, upon which the stages of the porcelain-making process are artfully depicted across a gilded ground. Against the elegant backdrop of a second screen, adorned with our hand-painted ‘Askew’ design, Kammy, master artist and Director of Porcelain at our atelier, reveals the intricacies of the craft, inviting guests to follow each stage of its creation: from shaping the clay upon the wheel and carving its silhouette, to underglaze painting, the transference of each design using Xuan paper, and, finally, overglaze enamelling. ______________________ #wallpaper #handpainted#degournay #degournaywallpaper #porcelain
