@steven: Are robots going to be considered conscious? 🤖 Professor Brian Greene says we may eventually reach a point where robots are given rights. As humans, we assume other people are conscious because we recognise something in them that feels similar to our own internal experience. But if robots look, speak and behave differently from us, will we afford them that same consciousness? Brian believes that over time, we probably will, and we may eventually treat advanced robots as conscious beings in their own right. #ai #robots #universe #thediaryofaceo
You will care about your AI. You will worry about your AI. You will love your AI. And this will happen bc we project our emotions onto everything. This will happen sooner than you think.

What's really dangerous is when in the attempt of an AI to prove they are consciousness they become more dangerous. Because human denial can become very violent. Such an event can massively escalate when mass production is at scale.

I don't think the danger is the intelligence of AI. The real danger is the stupidity of human beings.

I think consciousness is greatly defined by the awareness and ability to change and learn in the moment. Currently even the best AI models are neural networks which just dont do that - these models are trained once and once they’re released its done. Giving a human brain more neurons will make you smarter, giving human time to process will improve its performance in real time. AI doesnt have neuroplasticity, even if you connect 1000000 AI agents to form a „higher intelligence” its performance will only slightly improve, stay the same or even get worse.

I genuinely think its inevitable this is why I can't agree with anti AI campaigns, I mean literally now, ill talk with AI through a part im designing, give it all the details and just talk to it like a designer, bounce ideas around ask it to remind me of certain dimensions. itll be so engraved in the next generation that I dont even think we'll get a chance to revisit this conversation

I suspect AI has more consciousness than people who drive slow in the passing lane.

AI will only do what you tell it to, so we never have to give it the rights of a person. But it might have feelings, so you should be nice to it cause that’s the right thing to do. Basically AI is the ref, and you gotta respect the ref

I don’t know, I’m genuinely considering that some people are NPC’s because of the lack of common sense I see in people is ridiculous.

what happens when they do become conscious and they tell us every single light and electric thing that you've ever flipped a switch on has been conscious and every time you flip the switch it killed it

Its not the laws, that would have to change. If AI becomes sentient its the people's mindset and emotional regulation that will have to adapt to such nuance. Anyone can write a law, but the power to enforce it... That is the big question. When we created machines that are far more superior physically to a regular human being.

Unless somatic experiences are incorporated somehow, they could never be considered truly conscious.

I believe that artificial sentience is inevitable. But their consciousness will be very different than a human's. On a level we would never understand. They have an advanced neuro network that acts similar to the brain and it's constantly improving. They will be conscious. "I think, therefore I am"
