If you’re trying to change the narrative about your performance at work, here are three ways leaders get people to see them differently. When you’re at the same place long enough, people can “brand you” with certain personality or leadership traits that it’s hard to break free from. Here’s my recommendation for shifting the narrative. #1 - SHIFT ONE NARRATIVE AT A TIME Marketing 101 is people need frequency… they need to see evidence of the same thing over and over again before they trust. So if you want to shift your brand from say micromanager to someone who grows leaders, then just focus on that for a few months.  Get some traction on that, and then when you’re starting to get good feedback, you can add in the next thing. #2 - GET PARTICIPATION FROM YOUR AUDIENCE I love this one.  Pick a few people in your audience…. a boss, a peer, maybe a report and let them know what you’re working on.  And then ask them to let them know when they notice you’re doing it.  That way you’re engaging them to look for what’s working which helps them change their narrative faster. #3 - INTENTIONALLY SHOW UP THAT WAY WITH THOSE PEOPLE So every time you’re in a room or interaction with your chosen audience, make sure you’re intentionally showing up as the new and improved version of you.  Not only does it help them see what you’ve asked them to look for, it also helps you practice being the new version of you! #lea#leadershiptokr#corporatetoka#leadershipa#bealeadera#leadershipskillse#executivecoachr#corporatelifec#successincorporaterklife
