On August 13, J-Hope shared stories showing that he and Namjoon had attended the Usher and Chris Brown concert, and photos of them with Chris Brown backstage later circulated online. Personally, this situation deeply disappoints me. Chris Brown is not simply a “controversial” artist: in 2009, he pleaded guilty after assaulting Rihanna and was sentenced for the offense. He has also been involved in other cases and allegations of violence since then. Usher, meanwhile, chose to collaborate with Chris Brown and tour with him despite his past, which makes this situation even more difficult for me to understand. What hurts me the most is that BTS has always shared important messages about respect, self-worth, and the value of women. Namjoon himself has shown a willingness to acknowledge his mistakes and grow, particularly after the criticism surrounding War of Hormone, and BTS later shared messages like 21st Century Girl. That is why seeing Namjoon and J-Hope choose to attend this concert and then be photographed with Chris Brown feels so contradictory to me. I am not claiming to know what they personally think about him, nor am I saying that they condone his actions, because I simply cannot know that. But I am still allowed to feel disappointed by their choice. I love Namjoon, and I recognize everything he has brought into my own understanding of feminism, but what he has done has deeply disappointed me as a woman. And I believe that, as ARMY, we also have the right to express that disappointment. BTS has often described ARMY as their strength and their voice, so our voices should not only matter when we support them, but also when we tell them that something has hurt or disappointed us. Being a fan does not mean blindly defending everything they do. I can continue to love BTS, be grateful for everything they have brought into my life, and still honestly say that this decision hurts me and feels inconsistent with the values I had come to associate with their message. @hobipower @BTS @mnijungkook #btsarmy #bts_official_bighit #bts #foryoupagе
