40 years ago, students in Taiwan and South Korea brought down the governments that transformed their economies from Third World to First World. Hopefully, we can see a similar student movement in Singapore.

This is just simple maths: any political party controls a super majority in the Parliament; how to get accountability?

Good that we hear some voices from the ground. The govt always try to top down on some policies which they think it is important to uphold the image of Singapore. For instance, the drive towards lower carbon, trying to reduce human labour in table cleaning etc. The govt sets its objective and insisted it is for everybody’s good and dismissed complaints and claimed it is for everyone’s good but at the end of the day, we returned our bowls and dishes to cleaners who stationed themselves at the collection points. And still with plates piled up and trays not removed promptly resulting in diners abandoning the trays and plates on the nearest table. Equally unsightly, reduce in labour has no result on cost of operation and food prices still go up persistently. The govt would probably say that had we not reduce that labour cost, prices of food would have been higher.

for a small country, better remains as 3rd world or developing country and not a developed country unless every citizen is earning $6-$10k

Lee Kuan Yew once said that while the demands of young people's demonstrations are commendable, ultimately, the decisions should be made by mature adults. The young will grow up, and when they look back, they will understand the good intentions of the adults.
