@theparentingpanel: Brushing my daughter’s hair has become a battle every morning. 😩 She cries because of the tangles, but I really don’t want to cut her hair short just because brushing is difficult. Parents… what actually works for detangling kids’ hair without the tears? 👇 Favorite brushes? Detangling sprays? Leave-in conditioners? A certain routine? ❤️ Please keep the comments kind and helpful. Every child’s hair is different, and your recommendation might be exactly what another parent needs. 📩 Have a parenting question? stop focusing on what YOU want, it's her hair, have you asked her of SHE wants it cut?

Lady Puck :
Advice here hugely depends on whether she has straight or curly hair. Mine is curly, and if I don't wear my bonnet, it gets wicked tangled. Unbrush is magic on curly hair. My kid's hair is fine and straight, and she hates having it messed with at all. She refuses to wear a bonnet, but braiding before bed helps a lot. I use a kids' detangling spray from Suave and a plain old wet brush for her after her bath.

Are you brushing from the bottom of the hair first?

Brush it from the bottom up. If you’re already doing this hold the strands you’re brushing so it tugs on your fingers and not her scalp. By brushing from the bottom up I mean brush the first inch at the bottom of her hair only and then the next inch and so on. If this doesn’t solve it it’s not pain it’s definitely just having to sit still or sensory issues

bonnet while she sleeps if you can, or a silk pillowcase. you gotta comb from the bottom in small sections. with damp hair & leave in conditioner

#1 tummyache survivor :
try getting her a satin pillowcase there's less friction between the pillow and her hair so it tangles less and braid her hair before bed

If your child cries when you brush it and you’re already “properly brushing “ meaning bottom to top and using detangler please cut her hair. Often times mom wants their daughters to have long hair but kids suffer a bit bc of it I hated having long hair and my mom wouldn’t cut it and now I’m a mother I wanted my daughter to have long hair but she cried and said please cut it and ever since I stopped imposing haircuts it makes everything easier and she’s genuinely happier

What hair texture does she have? The texture and porosity will change how you should tend to her hair.

Don’t use ‘kid’ hair products, use adult. I use my conditioner, leave in conditioner (it’s a 10, it’s also a heat protector). Most importantly, Cowboy Magic super body shine, it de-tangles hair like nobodies business, take it from someone that was the girl that cried every morning getting her hair brushed

Double shampoo it and condition it every other day get a good hair oil and learn how to French plait it or get her a hair bonnet let her choose 🥰
