Bilbo gave the whole movies so much depth and emotions while their world was sorrounded by death, war, greed, corruption etc. He was the embodiment of kindness and hope

Some of the parts were cut out unfortunately. I do think the series were pretty solid, they just were unable to live up to LOTR standard.
