I think the themes are great and what these games do best are the direction of the cutscenes and the game design being alienating how ahead of their times it was. However dialogue and narrative are sloppy since there are just so many ideas thrown into these games and you have to put the game side first, there's not that balance and storytelling through gameplay like SH2 had, MGS loves to infodump you to oblivion.
