@lil_tachy: Replying to @9ella.ven as someone who loves many people with BPD, I think this comment is ridiculous #xyzbca #ex #Relationship #BPD #MentalHealth
BPD is more self destructive than abusive to others.

I hate when people use mental illness as an excuse for toxic behaviour.

how come every bpd space on tiktok is so focused on enabling toxic and abusive behavior and calls you awful if you dare to suggest people should make an effort to recover and are responsible for their behavior

My ex had BPD. He tried to kill me. My spouse has BPD. They take care of me, brush my hair, cook my dinner, give me a safe space to talk. It's almost like BPD isn't a monolith and nobody should be assuming anything about anybody based on a fucking diagnosis.

I'm so tired of people using mental illness to excuse abuse. How are we gonna destigmatize it while also equating it with abusive behavior?

Because blaming an illness and giving them "free rein" is so people can turn around and say "this is why health mental needs to be put into asylums.

same thing with npd, my best friend has npd and he's never treated me wrong. my father had npd symptoms too but he was abusive on his own accord!

i have bpd & im hitting three years in a couple months with my partner. they bought so many books on bpd to understand me better. we’ve never raised our voices at each other let alone had an intense argument. we’ve had disagreements but we talk about them maturely with each other. i used to think relationships triggered my bpd & made it worse, but it turns out when you’re with someone who doesn’t trigger you all the time it feels like my bpd isn’t even there sometimes! i’ve never felt so safe & seen before

I have bpd, I still don't scream and shout and hurt people. yeah my emotions are big but it's always directed at myself never someone else. and I would never use it as an excuse. I hate that it's so stigmatized 😭

BPD is one of the few mental illness diagnosis you can “recover” from. It’s IMPERATIVE that people with BPD do the work to try to recover. As someone who has been on that journey my entire life it is OUR RESPONSIBILITY to work on recovery before ever trying to date

As someone with bpd I hate people saying it’s an excuse because it also perpetuates the stereotype that bpd causes all of us to be abusive and awful
