Oh no - when you try again make sure it’s a bit softer, then you can take your finger nail and create an opening around the outside (full circle) and then open it up so you see the inside like this:

Mangosteen skin should be soft to squeeze when the inside is good (just use fingers) while the hard one is the bad one. I always use this rule whenever to buy one. Hope it's help!

one thing to take note when buying a mangosteen,is to always check the color ,if it’s deep burgundy,it’s overripe and when it’s rock hard,you’re not suppose to eat it. You should pick those that has a lighter color.

too old mangosteen. it should be soft, you can open by pressed it between your palm. and the inner fruit is white. the yellow thing is bitter. good luck for other mangosteen.
