The waitlist for the psoas release for nervous system regulation program is in my bio :) How the psoas is the fight or flight muscle: The psoas is deeply connected to your nervous system, especially the autonomic nervous system (which controls automatic functions like heart rate and breathing). The psoas is directly tied into the sympathetic nervous system (“fight or flight”). When the brain perceives danger, it sends signals that activate the psoas to prepare the body to flee or fight. The psoas contracts to flex the hips (ready to run) or curl into a protective fetal position. Chronic stress, trauma, or prolonged sitting (which mimics a defensive posture) can cause the psoas to remain tight and shortened, reinforcing a constant low-grade “fight or flight” state. A tight psoas can contribute to anxiety, shallow breathing, lower back pain, pelvic imbalance, and even digestive issues. How this releases the psoas: The leg at 90 degrees on the chair (knee bent, hip flexed) allows the psoas on that side to relax into a slightly shortened but passive position — reducing tension. The leg extended on an elevated surface gently elongates the psoas on that side without triggering the nervous system to tighten up defensively. The support under both legs signals to the nervous system: “You’re safe. You can let go.” Gravity assists in decompressing the lumbar spine and pelvis, allowing the psoas to release deeply. Breathing slowly in this setup encourages the parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) system to activate, further helping to down-regulate the psoas tone. This position soothes the psoas by putting it in a state where it no longer needs to guard or hold tension, helping to reverse the fight-or-flight response. #nervoussystemregulation #nervoussystemhealing #nervoussystem #chronicpain #chronicpainrelief #traumarelease #backpainrelief #backpain #psoas #psoasrelease #dysautonomia #traumahealing #myofascialrelease #fightorflight
