you need to stop using Fetterman's stroke as an excuse. He threatened to shoot a black jogger with a shotgun in 2013. A bigger problem in Pennsylvania was that Dr Oz was very unlikeable and was seen as the worse candidate

Leftists do on average fall behind blue dog or more mainstream candidates on average, Fetterman also ran during a year where the electorate was much more leaning to those types of ideas (White Educated Voters) and democrats as a whole massively overpreformed expectations in all swings states (Georgia, Arizona, Nevada) Abdul also underperformed polling in that race by alot

The left has a racism problem. If y’all can figure that out, most of the complaints will melt away.

Imagine if an actual progressive wins a primary and then the Democratic Party actually supports them. A lot of these candidates have to go against not only Republicans well they need to do it without the support of the Democratic establishment. It’s so frustrating to see centralist blame leftist for the state of the party when they are the problem.

Leftists never get a true control situation to see how their electability works. Always working against fighting from the left and the right.

I think the left should focus more on garnering long term support than short term governmental victories

Yeah we were so excited that Fetterman won the primary over Connor Lamb who looked like a Republican in everything but name. PA elected a progressive Democrat

More leftists are getting elected than ever before, but the Democratic party is still talking about electability like it's 2012. It's all a sham to keep their wealthy donors happy, but it's not going to reliably win elections anymore

Tbh I think it really depends on the nominee. Talarico is obviously not a leftist but he’s still to the left of most non DSA democrats and he’s leading polls in Texas. Abdul got progressives in Michigan excited while Stevens just came off as corrupt and unlikable. However there are people like DAC which I don’t think could win in a swing district (pointless hypothetical but). It really depends on how well they fit the district they’re in as well as how well they communicate with voters

Progressives need to stop running against each other in the same primary and consolidate to win and primary more corporatists

A few more Fetterman campaign datapoints: He was pro-fracking* and very party line on foreign affairs, "Give Ukraine everything," though I don't remember Israel coming up; it really doesn't seem like he's ever actually thought about it, by my definition of thought. *Controversial in the Dem primaries. I hope the same dudes who boosted him and Platner have finally learned their lesson and raised their standards, all maddening. Meanwhile, Conor Lamb, the archetypical Red district moderate/centrist, had been and is critical of Israel. Just a weird irony. Fetterman took the deal with the devil, big AIPAC spending, to beat Lamb, and then ran a xenophobic campaign against Oz. Obviously, I hope Summer Lee is my next senator, not Lamb, but even by name alone, neither are Christian Nationalist trust fund gentrifier ogres. And just another fun memory: When McCormick ran against Bob Casey, both Netanyahu boot-throaters, all the attack ads on McCormick were like, "This guy loves Communist China!" to the point that I was a little bit like, should I vote for him?

Ehhhhhh kinda. Malcolm Kenyatta was the progressive in that primary. Fetterman really only ever ran on a pseudo pro union platform

It is true that Liberals and Progressives have a hard time making it out of primaries in red and purple areas, however "leftists" ain't blameless as there unfortunately seems to be a lot who would rather whine then vote.

I recall John Fetterman having a Biden level performance in the last debate, and he still won his election in a supposedly red wave election cycle. It annoys me so much that he dragged that accomplishment through the mud by becoming reactionary

Sherrod Brown, Tammy Baldwin, and Andy Besher are examples of leftists winning in "purple" and "red" states, however, some of the online left considers anyone to the right of what they consider progressivism to be right wing, so they do not take credit for that.

Leftists electability is a non started argument when 2024 results showed despite being pandered to centrist democrats showed up 46% to vote, and moderates 32%. Meanwgile progressives 70% and loyal liberals 79% with a section of the left who felt abandoned by the democrats so they only turned out 42% If they had pandered left instead of right they wouldve tapped into more voters, since pandering right resulted in poor turnout by that lot

There are plenty of uncontested republicans running across the country. Progressives should be able to easily win those seats with how yall talk about your own electability. If you can’t even win a primary then your ideas aren’t that popular to begin with

My issue is that "Lefties" aren't flipping purple states, my issue is Leftists are not flipping solidly Blue states. Massachusetts, California, Illinois ect, have no reason to elect corporate centrists constantly
