I experienced something similiar back when I started. Walked into my local Games Workshop and expressed my interest in collecting and playing as it looked fun and they didn't take me at all serious, they even extensively questioned why I would want to collect Tyranids and scoffed at my choice. That all changed as soon as I said I had about £700 to drop on a small army and everything needed to get started. Suddenly they were very keen to help me and wouldn't leave me alone... 😂 I was lucky with my friends who played as they welcomed me into the hobby and even helped me. It is a shame that there are so many people out there who are that toxic over it...

as a warhammer player im sorry that you found the bad apples in the community, there is some that are incredibly close minded and will "gatekeep" the game from other but then turn around and bitch and moan about GW not doing more for the game, im just happy that my favorite harp player is also a warhammer player 🥰

For painting the minis, get a wet palette and thin your paints with a little bit of water, it is a game changer! Mini painting is so much fun!

yea unfortunately 40K has the absolute weirdest gatekeepers and the biggest nerds. it often makes a bad combo. the good news is that they are a relatively small part of the community... they're just very loud.
