Her Dream wasnt really to be a performer, It was to leave Home! She didnt wanna be a Farmer in small Town her whole life. She first attempted to leave by Marrying a Rich boy who she thought would take her away but he just wanted to be Farmer too then left for War. So then that Filmaker guy said he would take her away but AGAIN nothing! so when that audition didnt work out either She was DONE! As a Woman in that Time she didnt really have many options or Chances so like...... not at all lightly caused crashout 🤣🤣😂😂😂

well the difference is that she was a woman, and an immigrant, in 1918. she was severely limited and the whole point is that was her ONE CHANCE to escape. she didn't just give up, her first attempt to escape that situation was marrying howard. the second was dancing. she didn't have many options except staying at the farm unless she wanted to starve or get sick
