@cruxstationalis: Saint Agatha was solemnly crowned today in Catania by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Pontifical Legate of Pope Leo XIV, as the city celebrates 900 years since the return of her relics. On August 17, 1126, the relics of the third-century virgin and martyr returned to Catania (in Sicily) from Constantinople. Nine centuries later, that historic homecoming was commemorated with a 7.5 km pilgrimage through the city to Piazza Duomo. There, Saint Agatha’s skull was presented to the faithful before being placed inside her magnificent reliquary bust, while her other relics were returned to the silver reliquary casket.
