My daughter went into recruitment at UGA last week not knowing a THING about the process, and I was no help, considering I went to college as a grown married woman with 4 kids. 😂 - She didn’t care a THING about which houses were considered “top” or “bottom.” She cared about finding a community of like-minded young women with similar values and interests. She had a great week and totally enjoyed the process and ended up getting a bid for Alpha Gamma Delta, which she had ranked as her #1 choice. 🥰

My daughter is a junior at a Bama old row house and they do not care about “top house/bottom house. She says all the time that all of the houses are amazing and each contributes to the community. Social media scrutiny has created this narrative, but in reality all of the houses are full of wonderful, vibrant, sweet girls- there is a place for everyone! Congratulations to your sweet girl! As a sorority woman, this whole top/bottom tier is just crap. All of these chapters are nationwide & some in Canada that all have great merits & make amazing contributions to the community. The lessons you learn are carried with you throughout your life, not just during your collegiate years. Supporting the projects of other chapters is also very important. It truly is a lifelong commitment Anyone that’s caught up in the whole ranking thing is there for the wrong reasons.

I think limiting the OOTDs is a great idea. Joining a sorority should be because you feel comfortable at the house, not what brand you are wearing. I admit… I am old school before social media, but I couldn’t even tell you where I got my dresses! My mom made some of them! I also agree about ranking… top tier? What does that mean? What you choose for you is top tier.

It’s so fun when you have friends in other houses. Going to their date parties, eating at their house, meeting girls in their pledge classes, is the best! Love that she had a great time, it really is so much fun and TikTok tries to make it seem so scary!

At every school there are wonderful women in every chapter! The whole top or bottom house thing only matters to people who are overly concerned with what others think of them. Congrats to Hunter!!!!!!

Congrats to your daughter for going where she felt like home! As a former rush team leader at an SEC school (was big 12 back then) the #1 piece of advice I give everyone is to disregard the top/bottom house construct - it’s only real if you give it energy. Go where you can be yourself. Nothing lonelier than being a misfit in a top house. I saw it all the time when girls chased letters and not sisterhood.
