What you’re describing is gentle parenting! It has to have consequences. Most millennials are permissive parenting because we were raised by authoritarian parenting styles!

not understanding that what you just described is gentle parenting is why people think gentle parenting is just fuck all & let em do whatever they want. because I try(I'm still learning too) to gentle parent & I promise you my kids say please thank you & they have consequences for their actions.

Gentle parents and permissive parents are NOT the same thing. My understanding is that gentle parents use words and help understand what is happening but the job gets done, permissive parents give the power to the child.

I take my 1.5 year old to music class and and a little boy took a scarf from my daughter so rough and then his parent took it from him just as rough and I was like well there you that’s why he thinks it’s okay

I use to give the girls count downs to leave… anywhere.. the playground etc… worked so well… vs. just saying time to go…

Gentle parenting involves all the the accountability people confuse gentle parenting with permissive parenting but gentle parenting is the talking and prepping and learning how their brains work and working with how to direct and discipline accordingly to their development
