@thecouchconnect: Somewhere along the way, we taught our children that their own languages were something to outgrow… while foreign languages became a measure of intelligence and excellence. But learning French, German or English shouldn’t come at the cost of losing the language God gave you. You can learn the world without forgetting where you come from. This conversation goes deeper than language. It’s about identity, confidence and what we’ve been taught to value. Full episode is up. Go watch the conversation. I agree with you. We ought to learn our native languages. I grew in a village but I speak better English and Kiswahili compared to my peers who don't speak their mother tongue.

perpetuators of this problem are pastors. esp a certain prominent preacher who has inspired his followers to add a little Spanish and french I. their speech. children names have no ancestral origin, either kiswahili or all English
