@tanakalasky: #postpartumdepresssion #postpartum talking about fear freely is helpful for me. As a #pregnant first time mom who got #sober to have a baby I’m not sure what postpartum will look like for my mental health. I have everything set up, I have the means, we planned for this baby but you never know how having a baby will affect you. #22weekspregnant
I felt the same way with both my children. I knew they were mine but in the first few months it didn’t feel like it. I just felt like it was my job to keep them alive for my husband. It was almost like I was a nanny. Didn’t realize how crazy it was until I started getting out of the funk

Ever since I came across your account, you’ve always been in my thoughts. From this video, you already sound like a mom. I wish my mom thought this way about me before I was born and took her addiction seriously enough to share and talk about it. You’re already light years ahead without realizing.

First of all, I think you’re in the best place you could be rn since you’re aware it could happen again so you can literally plan and anticipate. Secondly, you seem to have a very solid support system now which means you’re part of a team, it’s not just you against your battle. Openly talking about this with them even before baby arrives is a gift and being proactive by setting boundaries and having a pp “emergency” plan (therapy, rehab, etc) will keep you and your baby safe. You got this mama.

Yes of course it’s natural to think of these things but don’t let the negative what ifs consume your thoughts over all the positives , it’s scary and will be new to adjust !! a child is life changing but preparing yourself and having knowledge you will have NOTHING to worry about it’s all mental right ! So as long as your mentality is straight you’re good with your support your husband ! I honestly haven’t watched the Nancy case because I know it will have my mental going crazy tryna figure it out ! And I’ve heard little clips but I will not think for one sec like I’m a detective or try to figure out what she was going through her husband and the system failed her simple wether she did it or the husband 🤯

You’re good to start preparing now. Maybe look into therapy now just to get a head start . It’s good to find help (talk therapy) before she comes just to have support ready. My first baby girl it was tough but with my son I got a therapist at 5 months pregnant ( plus I had 4 miscarriages) t was a game changer. You got this 👍🏻

the fact that you're worrying about it and working through it, means your gonna be a good mom. Bad moms never wonder if theyre doing a good job or not. Your baby will never need you to be perfect.

I believe saying it out loud and attempting to let go of shame is half the battle. One thing I want to share from my own experience, my son will be 15, is that parenting is not linear. The emotional toll and battle to always choose the most healthiest option for yourself and child will always be there. But having the fight to ask for help and to find community will serve you at every turn. You can’t really guess how you’ll feel or how you’ll handle situations, just try your best to stay in the moment and choose the best option at hand. Your emotions will go haywire for sure, but knowing how you’ll handle them is not a one size fit all. But I know you will be fine, and you will not be left to figuring it out alone. We’re all rooting for you both! 💕
