Having flown on that airline, it might be due to each passenger carrying 60kg of hand luggage

The pilot has now officially spoken about what happened: during the takeoff roll, the aircraft suddenly stopped accelerating for about two seconds before reaching V1. After reaching V1, the speed then dropped again. At that point, the crew determined that there was no longer enough runway remaining to safely reject the takeoff, so they decided to apply full thrust and continue the takeoff.
This makes the situation much clearer: the crew didn’t simply choose to keep going despite having plenty of runway left. They had already passed V1 when the speed dropped again, leaving them with no safe option to stop.

Why are runways short? They could have an extra 2 km for emergencies. Also, why do runways have dead ends like trees, hills, or piles of dirt? Why risk people's lives? It's an absurd design for runways.

Please, all the non-pilots. Stop saying pilot error, no flaps. I can see flaps are at least at 10 and slats are out. And I believe the pilot had nerves of steel. We can see tire marks from the take off. And after decision speed was reached. I know some pilots would panic and try to stop. Which will lead to a guarnateed fireball as the outcome. I am a pilot. And I had STOL training, actually lots of it. And, lets wait until we find out all the facts. It was a hot day. It was fully fueled. Wight and balance will be looked at. So, the mistake will be determined.

Happens to me too. You check your phone for a couple seconds and you're out of runway.

Surely the drivers would have increased power if the end of the runway was getting closer? EasyJet pilots had the same issue years ago and whacked it into TOGA and got off the ground. Dodgy calculations!

The identified causes were seized brakes and insufficient tire pressure, which prevented the aircraft from reaching maximum speed as it neared the end of the runway. The captain handled the situation calmly; although the rear fuselage struck the runway, he decided to take off. The aircraft flew for 90 minutes to dump fuel before landing immediately afterward, as shown in the video above.

4000m should be enough for any aircraft! Surely TOGA should be applied if beyond V1 and not accelerating correctly
