For anyone confused. Rogue got the ability to fly by permanently absorbing the powers of Carol Danvers, This act also gave Rogue super strength and near-invulnerability, but it trapped Carol's psyche inside Rogue's mind.

Yes, Carol Danvers recovers, though it is a long and complicated process. After Rogue permanently stole her powers, memories, and personality in Avengers Annual #10, Carol was left in a coma. Professor Charles Xavier helped restore her memories, and she later gained cosmic powers as Binary, eventually reclaiming her identity as Captain Marvel

Rogue literally got her powers by attacking Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers 😭 She absorbed Carol’s powers, memories AND personality, leaving Carol basically catatonic. Carol’s consciousness stayed inside Rogue for years, which helped drive Rogue insane and eventually made her realize what she’d done was horrible. Mystique had manipulated Rogue into doing it, too. Carol eventually recovered, became Binary, and the two went from enemies → reluctant allies → eventually mutual respect. Rogue basically carried the person she victimized around in her own head for years. 💀
