This is a good question! I think your mistake is you’re assuming that them both being books have some sort of relation, but they don’t. Atheists trust history books because what is in them has gone through thorough analysis and research to prove its existence. There are plenty of scientific methods to prove history to be true and you can look them up yourself if you’d like. Whereas with god, there is no scientific evidence for its existence. To an atheist, the bible seems more logically attributed to people just making it up rather than these events actually occurring and being documented (I.E. the bible was probably made up and not telling the story of real events). The evidence leans more towards false, unlike with history books.
