I don’t think Korra and Asami’s relationship has anything to do with Korra’s maturity or something like that. To truly mature, she needed experiences, battles with different fighters, and to learn from their philosophies and wisdom. If you compare the period with Mako, Korra hadn’t faced any real villains or dealt with dangerous abilities like Amon’s. Korra and Asami’s relationship only came after she had faced those challenges and learned from them. Honestly, I would have preferred if her relationship had stayed with Mako.
