Honestly, I find it pretty fascinating that people can be so confident that their particular invisible deity is the one true God when there are thousands of religions and gods humans have believed in throughout history. From my perspective, religion can sometimes function like a cult believe without evidence, follow the rules, trust the authority, and questioning the belief system is treated as a moral failure. I’m an atheist because I don’t see sufficient evidence that any god exists, and “you just have to have faith” isn’t exactly the groundbreaking argument people seem to think it is. If believing in something without proof makes someone happy, fine, but expecting everyone else to treat that belief as objective fact while acting offended when it’s questioned is where I lose interest. So no, I don’t need to “find God”; I’m perfectly comfortable admitting that I don’t know something rather than inventing an answer and calling it divine truth.
