Each Emirates have federal laws and local laws. For example Sharjah is more Islamic so school segregation, prostitution, alcohol and gambling is completely banned. Dubai is very liberal just 10-20km away

Just to add to your points, the UAE has a national food security strategy to make sure that they’re not reliant on imports especially basic foods (check out what Sharjah is doing in Mleiha for the past 6+ years for example and the latest subsidies for local farmers through the Ministry of Agriculture).

Great video, although I did miss some religious insights. for instance is the UAE predominantly sunni/shia and religious freedom in general. also if the uae's religiosity reduced in order to accomodate dubai's development by attracting westeners.

The UAE’s role in Yemen, Sudan, and Somalia is sooo incredibly interesting because it really highlights the Gulf’s wider geopolitical rivalries, especially the UAE itself and Saudi Arabia. What makes it even more fascinating is how these countries are simultaneously so good at putting on these huge public performances of regional unity. Everyone smiling, shaking hands, and acting like they’re best friends forever, united by culture and religion, while behind the scenes they are pursuing wildly different interests and competing for influence across the region.
