@samgarcilazo: Silently crying in the bathroom wondering if you made the right career choice but still showing up everyday and giving it your all. Being a new grad is HARD and SCARY! If you’re feeling the same way I promise you’re not alone. There’s another new grad out their crying in the bathroom as well. #newgradrn #newgrad
I cried my first day of night shift orientation because my preceptor left me alone and made me feel dumb for not knowing how to do things on my own!! I promise it gets better & you’ll get confident over time! Being a new grad is hard, but just remember you made it this far & you can do hard things!

As a seasoned nurse this is heartbreaking to see. Don’t be afraid to document these experiences. I sued the charge nurse for bullying when I was a new grad. Unprofessionalism, intimidation and bullying isn’t part of code of ethics.

Thank God I’m not alone bc this is me. And one day I had a patient say “good nurses like you are so hard to find. You’re right where you’re supposed to be. God made you to do this. You made the right choice to be a nurse.” And I so desperately wanted to tell her how hard it’s been and how I cry all the time

I cried when I slowed down for one singular second.. I just happened to be standing at the Pyxis with 3 other nurses behind me waiting to pull meds 🙃 had a whole mental breakdown. Thankfully, they all were super supportive and asked what they could do to help me.. my response was “just let me cry. I’ll pull my big girl pants up and get back to work in just a second.” 🫣

I remember being a new grad 14 years ago. I came on a shift one morning to hear the nurse I was getting ready to get report from absolutely standing on business arguing with a cardiologist about a patient she had that night; my new patient in a few minutes . I watched her in awe like how could she do that? Talk that way with such confidence??? She knew exactly what to say to get things done! I was mesmerized, wondering when and if that would ever be me…Where I would know what to say and have the confidence to stand up to a specialist in defense of her patient advocating so perfectly. I think I can say with confidence now looking back that you hit that point somewhere around year two. At least with less shakiness. You won’t have it all figured out but you’ll find your stride. In the meantime, just be kind to your patients and do what you know to do. They won’t forget your charm and kindness. Go in those rooms like you were meant to be in that space!

Some one please explain to me what is the main reason for feeling like this! Is it bc of toxic work environment Or is it seeing pt suffering? I'm currently becoming a nurse and this really scares me bc I'm sensitive and wear my little heart on my sleeve 😥 I will never develop toxic nurse syndrome!
