@zerodollarcoaching: The fastest way to get a raise is to quit. Owners pay strangers market rate while loyal employees like Kati stay stuck. We pay for leverage, not performance, and it’s a stupid system. If you found out a new hire made more than you—how many years in were you? Owners, defend the confidential pay rule if you want. I’ll wait. #SmallBusiness #BusinessOwner #SalaryNegotiation
Haha dollar raise? You’re cute!! It’s more like .10/.20 cents some years not all 😏

The bizarre part is pay is not confidential. It’s actually illegal to require it to be confidential in all 50 states. It’s also illegal to tell your employees not to discuss pay in all 50 states.

Very true. Worked at the same job for over 20 years. Found out I was getting paid only 0.05 than the person they just hired with no experience. Walked out the next day. Took 3 people to do my job. They lasted 1 month only. 5 years later, they have had 100 new hires for that position.

True story. Ive changed jobs every 2 years since 2018 with an average $20k yearly increase. This last time I changed jobs...May 2026....I make $40k more than the last job. Do not stay loyal to these companies who won't pay you what you're worth.

One week, I came in with an "experience bump" I had 6 years of upper management experience, got 30 cent more... they paid a kid right out of high school for the summer who was hired a week after me 4 dollars more an hour...later on they wanted me to train him to do my job so he could take on a manager roll...nope, if I'm good enough to train him but not good enough for the permanent position and he's already making 4 dollars more an hour than me then he can figure it out...

any employer who is making great revenue and has not given cost of living increases and annual raises is just using their employees as cheap labor

Asked for a raise. Never got one. And when we did it was .20 cents. So I used all my PTO and quit. Got a nice raise at my next job. The old job added 2nd and third shift to make. Cause my replacement couldn’t keep up with the job.

5 years and I’m under paid by $15k a year for the title I hold. Now my boss and a fellow supervisor are getting ready to all walk out together because of poor executive leadership unwilling to keep the experience with a market match raise.
