I’m a man who works in botany and horticulture, and I genuinely love plants and flowers not just how they look, but the science, ecology, and biology behind them. And I’ll say it: a lot of women don’t actually love flowers they love the idea of flowers. The bouquet. The arrangement. The romantic gesture. The Instagram picture. Take away the ribbon and the vase and put those same flowers in their natural habitat. Take someone to a native reserve and start talking about their scientific names, adaptations, pollinators, ecology, and why those species are fascinating, and suddenly the enthusiasm disappears. That’s the difference between loving flowers and loving what receiving flowers represents. For a lot of people, the bouquet isn’t really about the plants it’s about the gesture, the symbolism, and being able to say, “Look what my man got me.” And this behavior is what makes it toxic

What’s funny is they were for Memorial Day, nobody genuinely has to get anyone anything for Memorial Day? They are festive and above and beyond for a holiday where gifts aren’t a thing. For her birthday, vday, anniversaries or just because, yes make sure to get the absolute best flowers and her favorite. I see no issues with “Memorial Day flowers”
