The 20% statistic (2 out of 10) is actually the current rate specifically for Addis Ababa, which is why it looks lower. But nationally, the rate is 65%, affecting over 25 million women and girls across Ethiopia. Instead of debating whether the numbers are exaggerated, we need to acknowledge that millions of children and women are still suffering from this practice right now. International attention and strong advocacy are the only ways these victims will ever get justice. The statistics aren't lying; the practice is absolutely still happening!!!
